THE AVERAGE ADULT MAKES AROUND 35,000DECISIONS EVERY DAY. EVERY ACTION YOU MAKE IS A DECISION, EVERY LETTER YOU TYPE, BOTTLE YOU OPEN, NO MATTER WHAT YOU DO YOU ARE CHOOSING TO DO IT. WHEN IT COMES TO DECISION MAKING, MANY PHILOSOPHERS LIKE TO REPRESENT DECISIONS WITH A CHOICE BETWEEN PATHS. OUR PROJECT DESIGN CAME FROM INSPIRATION FROM THE PATH PEOPLE TAKE. WHEN WE FIRST LOOKED AROUND FOR AN INSTALLATION SPOT, WE NOTICED THE AWKWARDNESS OF THE RELATION BETWEEN THIS SUPPORT BEAM AND THE WALL. THERE WAS A GLASS SHOWCASE WITH NOTHING IN IT BETWEEN THE BEAM AND THE WALL LEAVING LIMITED ACCESS FOR SOMEONE TO PASS BY. IT WAS HONESTLY HUMOROUS, AN AWKWARD SPOT, HIGHLIGHTING NOTHING, AND OF ALL A HINDRANCE TO PEDESTRIANS. WE STUDIED THE AREA OVER A TIME PERIOD AND RECOGNIZED THAT NOT ONE PERSON WOULD WALK BETWEEN THE BEAM AND WALL. WE WANTED TO INSTALL SOMETHING THAT WOULD CAUSE PEOPLE TO HAVE TO CHOOSE BETWEEN WALKING THROUGH THAT AREA OR GOING AROUND IT, RATHER THAN SUBCONSCIOUSLY WALKING AROUND THE HINDRANCE THAT WAS THERE. MORE SO, OUR STRUCTURE MESSES WITH THE THOUGHT PROCESS AND DECISION MAKING OF EACH PEDESTRIAN THAT WALKS BY IT ADDING ON TO THE THOUSANDS OF DECISIONS WE MAKE IN A DAY.
